MEET LAURA

We can fix it and that’s why I’m running for State Representative.

A lifelong educator and twenty-year Vernon resident, Laura Bush has spent her life serving the Eastern Connecticut community. A precursor to winning elected office, she has taught at Andover Elementary School since 2000. In 2009, she won her first election to the Vernon Board of Education. There, she employed her first-hand experience in the school system to advocate for positive change, eventually serving as the CABE Area 3 Regional Director.

A stalwart advocate of enhancing the quality of life in Vernon, Laura has served on the Town Council since 2015. She is an active member of the Rockville Fish and Game Club, Connecticut Citizen’s Defense League, and CEA Political Action Committee, serving as Past President of the Andover Elementary School CEA/AEA.

Outside of her professional life, Laura is a Certified Therapy Dog Handler and enjoys scuba diving with her family. She has been married to her husband, Tom, for thirty-nine years, and, together, they have three sons and a grandson. She holds a Master of Science in Reading/Language Education from Eastern Connecticut State University, and she volunteers her time as a RAGE Robotics Team Mentor and Lego League Coach. Besides her husband, Laura shares her home with two Certified Therapy Dogs, Lacey and Nina.
